|Vow (Major)||Elijah has vowed to find his family.||SWCB pg 33|
|Wanted (Minor)||Elijah is wanted by the Coalition States for killing a CS representative.||SWCB pg 33|
|Quirk (Minor)||Elijah has the habit of whistling to himself when he gets bored.||SWCB pg 33|
– EDGES & ADVANCES –
|Attractive||It’s no secret that beautiful people have an easier time getting their way in life. This Edge grants your beautiful or handsome character +2 to Charisma.||SWCB pg 35|
|Martial Artist||This character is highly trained in hand-to-hand fighting. He is never considered unarmed in combat and so is never subject to the Unarmed Defender rule (page 87). With a successful unarmed attack, he adds +d4 to his Strength roll (as if he were using a small weapon).||SWCB pg 39|
|Luck||The adventurer seems to be blessed by fate, karma, the gods, or whatever external forces he believes in (or believe in him!)
He draws one extra Benny at the beginning of each game session, allowing him to succeed at important tasks more often than most, and survive incredible dangers.
|SWCB pg 36|
|Brawler||Frequent fights with his bare hands have given this thug a powerful punch. When he hits a foe with a successful bare-handed Fighting roll, he adds +2 to his damage.||SWCB pg 37|
|Improved Marital Artist||The character now adds +d6 to his bare-handed damage.||SWCB pg 39|
|5||Dodge||Some crafty types know how to get out of harm’s way. This Edge allows them to use cover, movement, and concealment to make them harder to hit. Unless they are the victim of a surprise attack and taken completely unaware, attackers must subtract 1 from their ranged attack rolls when targeting them (even in close combat).
Characters who attempt to evade area effect attacks may add +1 to their Agility roll as well (when allowed).
|SWCB pg 37|
|10||Scrounger||Some people are just very skilled at knowing how to find what they need in an urban setting. They know where to look, who to talk to, and how to get what their group needs. A Scrounger can make a Streetwise check, once per session, in any city or large town (−2 in smaller urban areas) to accomplish one of the following:
* Gain 1d6+2 fully charged e-clips for the rearms she and her teammates use.
* Acquire a complete reload for one Mega Damage weapon, such as a Boom Gun, Mini Rail Gun, or grenade launcher.
* Procure food for 2d6 people for a week.
* Fully restock one Trauma Kit, or find 1d4+1 first aid kits (as found in the NG- S2 Survival Pack).
* Obtain a non-secured cred-card with 2d10 × 2,000 credits on it.
* Find some rare (not necessarily valuable) and needed item (entertainment chips for computers, a spare part for a suit of armor or vehicle, snacks and treats, etc.).
|TLPG pg 74|
|15||Woodsman||Woodsmen are rangers, scouts, and hunters who are more at home in the wilderness than in urban areas. They are skilled trackers and scouts, and know how to live off the land for months at a time. Woodsmen gain +2 to Tracking, Survival, and Stealth rolls made in the wilderness (not towns, ruins, or underground).||SWCB pg 44|
|20S||Battle Hardened||The hero’s conditioning reflects the rigors of a martial career. He adds +2 to all Soak rolls.||TLPG pg 71|
|25||+1 to 2 skills||SWCB pg 47|
|30||Marksman||The hero excels at taking controlled, measured shots. If he does not move in a turn, he may fire as if he took the Aim maneuver. Marksman may never be used with a Rate of Fire greater than 1.
Marksman works with both Shooting and Throwing.
|SWCB pg 38|
|35||+1 to Vigor||SWCB pg 47|
Elijah Clarke was born 77 PA near the border of CS Minnesota and the New West. The Clarke family were farmers and tradesmen, content to live a quiet life minding their own business and occasionally helping the less fortunate who happened to wander into the community they lived in. Elijah’s father James and his mother Siobhan taught him about repairing machines, hunting, trapping, tracking, and other important life survival skills. Elijah’s little sister Aiofa was 5 years younger and had a playful, some might say prankster, streak in her. Life was peaceful and predictable, excepting the occasional trouble with roaving threats and his sister’s occasional prank.
Real trouble started when one of the neighboring families wanted to join with the Coalition States. They managed to intimidate several of the surrounding farms and many in the nearby settlement of Fargo into signing. The Clarke’s steadfastly refused to join in signing. James was reported as saying, “Sure life is hard, but better to rely on our neighbors and community than have to listen to a bunch of hypocritical elitists who live thousands of miles away.” With the help of several other influential families James was able to convince the community that they did not need to join with the CS.
This lasted for almost a year. Elijah is not sure if it was one of the rival pro-CS families or the CS representative that came to visit the town, but someone started a rumor that Elijah’s mother Siobhan was a witch. The Coalition representative brought a large group of soldiers out to the Clarke family farm to arrest the family. When asked what proof the representative had and by what authority gave him the right to disrupt their lives, violence errupted.
During the short fight Elijah’s mother was wounded. Enraged at what he witnessed Elijah left his hiding place and assaulted one of the Coalition soldiers. He used his years of experience to incapacitate several soldiers, but in his fury killed the CS representative. In shock at having taken another human life he hesitated and was shot in the shoulder. He later awoke to find the house on fire and the rest of his family missing.
Elijah escaped the house, gathered a few supplies and a hunting rifle and left to see if he could find his family. Some time later he met up with Dominic Jones, a man who would take the young Elijah under his wing and help to give him purpose. The two met up with a band of refugees who managed to escape the embargo of Tolkeen. Elijah wanted to go help with the defense of the city, but Dominic persuaded him that the refugees needed their help more. Later, Dominic would join Lord Coake’s Tomorrow Legion and once again convince his younger buddy Eli to join him.
The two have worked on a few different specilist teams together, a brief stint on one of the Communications Infrastructure teams and more recently on several Cartography Retification teams. Now Eli finds himself being recruited for a new Special Exploratory team.
Elijah main motivation is trying to find his other family members or what became of them. He also does his best to avoid detection as a member of the CS representative’s family have found out that he still lives, but instead of issuing a bounty or kill contract they have made sure his face is known in CS territories.
